Built for an extremely opinionated audience—back-end developers—that requires the maximum flexibility in their workflows, we helped Appsmith with the design of their first version and a design system.

As we started this engagement, very soon we realized that the developers and engineers who were the primary audience were very different from designers. Working closely with the appsmith team and relying on their own experiences, we designed the end-to-end workflows.

In parallel, we created a design system and interface for the tool itself. The extensive design system formed a basis for the set of widgets users can drag and drop to build their UIs.
