Escalation Intelligence
A model for designing the conditions under which a system recognises its own limits and returns control to a human.
People delegate to systems incrementally and conditionally. When a system acts beyond the boundary of what a person implicitly sanctioned — through unfamiliar stakes, ambiguous context, or irreversible consequence — trust breaks faster than it was built. The value of automation is not in its reach but in its accuracy about its own limits.
