Progressive Capability Reveal
A model for revealing system sophistication in proportion to a user’s demonstrated capability.
Beginners exposed to full system complexity abandon it. Experts constrained to beginner interfaces abandon it for something else. The same person moves between these states over time — sometimes within a single session. A system that presents a fixed interface to all users at all times is wrong for most of them most of the time.
Mechanism not yet established. Candidate model for systems where mastery of the system is itself the user goal. Sits adjacent to Autonomy Gradient. Open questions: gating vs defaulting, legibility stance, whether this is substrate or peer.
