A radiologist reading a scan, a judge reviewing precedent, a fund manager assessing risk: in each case the human judgment is the irreplaceable input. Systems that replace that judgment remove the thing that made the decision trustworthy. Systems that support it — reducing cognitive load, surfacing overlooked signal, flagging inconsistency — improve outcomes without displacing accountability.
